Jonathan Kellner
Chairman

Jonathan Kellner is the CEO of Members Exchange, joining the firm in February 2019 with responsibilities for the company’s strategic vision, management and execution. He was the company’s first employee and joined its Exchange Board as Chairman in May 2020.

Under Mr. Kellner, MEMX has hired nearly 50 team members, received SEC approval to operate a U.S. equity exchange and, in a remote environment, developed a simple, transparent and efficient market model with a goal of serving all investors. The company has raised more than $135 million since inception from a diverse and influential group of sell- side, buyside, retail and market-making participants.

Before joining MEMX, Mr. Kellner was CEO at Instinet Inc., leading a global team of 800 people for more than four years at the institutional agency-only broker and independent equity trading arm owned by Nomura Holdings. He previously served as president for over six years.

Mr. Kellner spent a total of 15 years under the Nomura umbrella, including four years as head of U.S. Sales Trading at the parent firm before moving to Instinet. Previously, he held technology and equity trading roles at global financial services firms such as Charles Schwab and Morgan Stanley.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Erica Attonito

Erica Attonito joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is Head of Sales and part of the Business Development team at Hudson River Trading.
At Hudson River, Ms. Attonito is responsible for the firm’s client bi-lateral off-exchange liquidity offering for broker-dealers across all asset classes. She also builds and manages trading relationships with brokers, exchanges and other market centers and leads HRTX SDP, a growing off-exchange single-dealer trading platform.

Previously, Ms. Attonito spent a decade in various key roles at KCG/Knight Trading, where she rose to the role of managing director in the electronic trading group. Among her responsibilities and accomplishments, she was charged with selling access to KCG’s dark pools, growing Knight Link to one of the leading off-exchange liquidity pools in the U.S. market. She is also a founding member of the firm’s Women’s Professional Network and Mentoring Program.

At the outset of her career, Ms. Attonito handled numerous networking and telecommunications responsibilities at BT Radianz, MCI Worldcom, XO Communications and AT&T Broadband.

Ms. Attonito holds a B.A. in political science from Loyola College (Md.), where she was an NCAA Division I All-American on the school’s top-ranked lacrosse team. She is also active in charitable causes including Wall Street Rides For Autism Research and The Friends of Sean Lugano, which helps those in need while honoring a friend who lost his life in the World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001.

Matthew Brennan

Matthew Brennan joined the MEMX Exchange Board in December 2020 and is the head of the US ETF secondary market trading team for ETF and Index Investing (EII) at BlackRock.

Mr. Brennan works to improve the trading quality of iShares ETFs by monitoring and evolving the ETF trading ecosystem. He leads for EII’s US market structure initiatives focused on safeguarding the accelerated growth of the ETF industry through partnerships with exchanges and liquidity providers. Mr. Brennan is also a member of the US ETF Market structure coalition.

Mr. Brennan joined Blackrock in February 2015 from J.P. Morgan where he spent 4 years in the Investment bank’s Global Credit Risk team focusing on Collateral Risk Management. Prior to that, he spent 8 years as a trader at Wall Street Access’ event driven arbitrage team.

Mr. Brennan earned a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College where he was member of the men’s soccer team.

Jenny Hadiaris

Jenny Hadiaris joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is Cowen’s head of global market structure and a managing director.
Ms. Hadiaris manages the electronic trading coverage team at Cowen and advises institutional clients on evolving market structure issues. She is also a member of the firm’s Markets Operating Committee.

Prior to joining Cowen, Ms. Hadiaris held key roles at Deutsche Bank and RBC Capital Markets. At Deutsche Bank, she served as head of global market structure for the Americas as part of the DB Global Market Structure Group, covering clients across the Americas as well as Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

She worked for a decade at RBC, ascending to global head of the firm’s respected Market Structure Research and Strategy team. In that position, she was responsible for the increased engagement of clients, initiating and fostering dialogue around market structure and electronic trading strategy. Previously at RBC, she was a business analyst in the Global Equity Sales and Trading group, studying market trends and identifying revenue and other growth opportunities.

Ms. Hadiaris graduated from Harvard University with a B.A. in psychology and, as a professional, has been active in various philanthropic causes including the Ronald McDonald House of New York and the Pink Agenda, an organization that fights breast cancer.

JJ Kinahan

JJ Kinahan joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is TD Ameritrade’s chief market strategist and a managing director.
Mr. Kinahan is head of market structure at TD Ameritrade, leads the firm’s client advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., and is in charge of the TD Ameritrade Network, a media affiliate which helps investors to apply news to their investing strategies. His responsibilities also include oversight of the thinkorswim family of platforms; he joined thinkorswim in 2006 and the firm was acquired by TD Ameritrade in 2009.

A regular contributor to CNBC and Forbes, Mr. Kinahan is frequently quoted in the media. He has also authored a book, Essential Options Strategies, and is the SIFMA Options Committee vice chairman.

He began his career as a Chicago Board Options Exchange market maker in 1985 and traded in the pits for 21 years. While primarily an independent market maker, he also worked for ING Bank, Blue Capital and was Managing Director of Option Trading for Van Der Moolen, USA.

Mr. Kinahan holds a B.A. in finance from Aurora University and an MBA from the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Deana Korby

Deana Korby joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is vice president of finance, investor relations, at IBM Corp., a position she has held since 2019.

In this role, Ms. Korby leads communication and outreach with the investment community regarding IBM’s business performance and strategy.

Ms. Korby has spent her entire career at IBM in a variety of roles across several key disciplines. Immediately prior to joining investor relations, she was vice president and chief financial officer of the Watson Data &AI and Watson Content & IoT businesses. She focused on the development and monetization of IBM’s core artificial intelligence technology and cloud- based data solutions as well as the Weather platform.

Her prior roles include serving as chief of staff to IBM’s chief financial officer, holding critical positions within Corporate Development and working as a senior program manager in the Intellectual Property Alliances & Licensing area. She began her IBM career working in the Microelectronics division as a semiconductor process engineer.

Ms. Korby holds a B.S. in Material Science and Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Montes Piard

Montes Piard joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is vice president and global controller at General Atlantic, a firm he has served since 2008.

Mr. Piard’s responsibilities include managing accounting books and records firm-wide, covering more than 200 corporate entities and 14 offices globally with over $34 billion in AUM. Previously, he was assistant controller of fund accounting, and his work included developing a new training protocol to develop understanding of complex tax structures.

Prior to joining General Atlantic, Mr. Piard supervised accounting activities for distressed opportunities funds at Chilton Investment Co., held risk and accounting roles at GE Capital and served as senior audit staff at KPMG LLP.

Before entering the workforce, Mr. Piard joined the U.S. Army Reserves as a college student, working as a medical specialist. He continued in the role upon joining his first employer, KPMG, and dedicated a total of six years to our country. With the Army, Mr. Piard worked as an airborne emergency medical technician for units focused on combat medical response.

Mr. Piard holds a B.A. in accounting from Berkeley College, an MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut and an Executive MBA in management from Cornell University.

Crystal Reilly

Crystal Reilly joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is formerly chief corporate compliance officer at Bats Global Markets, a leading exchange operator that is now part of Cboe Global Markets.

At Bats, Ms. Reilly managed the U.S. Compliance and Membership Services departments, coordinated the firm’s Regulation SCI compliance program and represented the Bats exchanges on various National Market System (NMS) Plan Committees. She also directed compliance training for the company and developed online learning models for employees globally.

Ms. Reilly joined Bats as part of the 2015 merger with another fast-growing market operator, Direct Edge LLC. During her 2 1⁄2 years there, she was the company’s regulatory compliance officer. Among her responsibilities, she managed the Regulatory Services Agreement for the exchange’s regulatory program, represented the company on various industry committees, and maintained critical internal policies and procedures.

Prior to her tenure at Direct Edge, she was associate director of equities compliance at RBC Capital Markets, managing the surveillance program for the U.S. Equities and Global Arbitrage Trading divisions. That role included oversight of surveillance analysts and monitoring of the firm’s compliance with trade reporting requirements.

In addition, Ms. Reilly also worked in key compliance functions at several other leading industry firms: Barclays Capital, Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers.

Ms. Reilly holds a B.A. in Art History and International Studies from Northwestern University.

Hal S. Scott

Hal S. Scott joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 and is the Emeritus Nomura Professor of International Financial Systems at Harvard Law School (HLS), where he taught from 1975-2018. He serves as adjunct Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where he teaches Capital Market Regulation.

Professor Scott is the director of the Program on International Financial Systems, founded in 1986 as part of Harvard Law School, and now an independent entity sponsored by Harvard Law School. Besides doing research and executive education for financial regulators, the program organizes the annual invitation-only U.S.-China, U.S.-Europe, and U.S.- Japan Symposia on Building the Financial System of the 21st Century.

Professor Scott also serves as director of the Committee on Capital Markets Regulation, a bi-partisan non-profit organization formed in 2006 to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. capital markets and ensure the stability of the U.S. financial system via research and advocacy.

An author of numerous op-ed articles in national newspapers, he has also written several books including International Finance: Transactions, Policy and Regulation, Connectedness and Contagion and The Global Financial Crisis.

He is a former independent director of Lazard, Ltd., a past governor of the American Stock Exchange, and a former law clerk to Mr. Justice Byron White.

Professor Scott holds a B.A. from Princeton University (Princeton School of Public and International Affairs), an M.A. from Stanford University in Political Science, and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.

Amy Wong

Amy Wong joined the MEMX Exchange Board in May 2020 after a highly successful 25-year career with PDT Partners, a global investment firm that develops and deploys quantitative model-driven trading strategies.

Ms. Wong began her career at Morgan Stanley in 1991 and, three years later, moved to the PDT (Process Driven Trading) Group within the firm as one of the proprietary trading unit’s first hires. The PDT Group spun off from Morgan Stanley in 2013, rebranding as PDT Partners, and Ms. Wong was a founding partner.

She served as the chief operating officer of PDT Partners for seven years until her retirement at the end of 2019. She also played an instrumental role leading the PDT spinoff and, during her tenure, helped build the business into a highly regarded quantitative investment firm.

Ms. Wong holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Her passions include building high-performance culture, mentoring others and promoting girls’ education.
